Fire Protection Systems
For more than 50 years, the fire protection systems experts at Piping Systems Inc. have been keeping Massachusetts businesses safe on the job. Greg Brewer is the Vice President of the Fire Protection Division and is the point of contact when considering a system upgrade or are constructing a new facility.
There are two fire protection options, ESFR (Early Suppression Fast Response) systems and Control Mode systems. Each system handles fires in a plant, facility, or building differently.
Control Mode systems are designed to slow down the fire and allow first responders to arrive on the scene. These types of sprinklers provide water in and around the area where the fire occurs to prevent rapid spread, but not with the specific intent of extinguishing it. They work by cooling the air above and around the area of the fire, preventing damage to the ceiling area while also preventing the spread of the fire.
ESFR systems target the blaze directly with large amounts of water in order to extinguish the fire completely. These systems are typically deployed in warehouses or similar facilities. With ESFR, it is absolutely essential that all aspects of the system are continually in good repair and well-maintained.
That’s where the licensed technicians at PSI come in. When installing and maintaining fire safety systems, it’s important to employ technicians who are familiar with codes and regulations. Having work done to code means it is done correctly, without the risk of faulty plumbing causing leaks or defective electrical or HVAC work increasing the risk of fires. Additionally, by hiring licensed professionals for the job, any damage done to your property by the company is also covered by their liability insurance.
Another benefit of working with PSI for your fire protection needs is our abundance of multi-trade workers. We integrate our combined trade experience in metal fabrication, plumbing, and electrical into one comprehensive strategy to meet and exceed any kind of fire protection challenge. Our case study on Taber Mill Apartments sprinkler system installation is a good example of this multi-disciplinary work.
